My little story

I can’t pin point a specific moment to when I started baking. But since I can remember I've always loved being in the kitchen. Whether it was with my Gran after school, or on the weekend with my mom in our small southern suburb kitchen, those moments were some of the best.. you know, the kind you’ll never forget.

I baked throughout high school, and spent a lot of my free time baking for family and close friends. It became my favourite hobby, and something I just really enjoyed doing.

Baking is such a relaxing, calming and enjoyable process for me, but that isn't even my favourite part. The thing I love best about baking is what comes after. Of course the delicious sweet treats, but more importantly the feeling I get when someone else enjoys it. I think that might just be the best feeling in the world for me.

After high school I decided to study fashion at Fedisa and graduated in 2018. Styling and design is another huge passion for me and I loved my time there. I learnt a lot, and made life long friends which I am so grateful for.

After graduating I decided to take a gap year and do all of the travelling that I needed to before getting stuck into my career. I had always dreamed of living in London and being a buyer or designer there. So in December of 2019 I booked my trip. After returning home with a successful job offer I needed to decide if I was ready to make the big move.

After lots of thinking I made the decision that I wasn't ready to move just yet. My life in Cape Town was just too precious to let go of. And I loved being surrounded by my family too much.

My Dad sparked the idea of me starting my own little cake business which I was a bit unsure of. I loved baking so much, but I wasn't sure if I wanted it to be my job. I decided to just give it a go. I practiced and perfected my recipes through lockdown, and created an Instagram page where I shared all of my bakes. And well.. the rest is history.

I feel so lucky to be doing what I am doing. I honestly think I have the best job in the world. Baking cakes for all of those special moments is such an honour, and I love being a part of them in some small way.

It really is the best feeling waking up in the morning and thinking ‘omg, I get to make someone’s birthday cake today’.
